Eyeshadow Application?

So, this is kind of embarassing. I'm almost 24 and still clueless about the whole ';contour'; concept when it comes to eye makeup.

I have manicured eyebrows

I have the angled brush.

I have the blendhing brush.

And I've watched the Sephora application videos over and over but it still comes not as awesome.

Am I expecting too much success being a novice? Or is there really some magic trick?Eyeshadow Application?
Have you tried searching eye makeup tutorials on YouTube? They are brilliant!

Many will show you how to contour your eyeshape - for example, show you the crease, the outer v, the tearduct etc.

EnKore, Panacea81 and pursebuzz are a few i can think of from the top of my head - just have a wee search ';Eye makeup tutorials'; and see what it comes up with! :D

Temptalia also makes a fantastic bunch of tutorials for HOW TO for eye makeup :)

i would suggest the sephora rounded crease brush #13. it doesn't have to be this exact brush, but if you are looking for a crease brush, this is what it should look like (doesn't matter too much what brand it is as long as the brush hairs feel similar and are shaped the same way).

i'm assuming when you say contouring, that you mean adding depth to the crease of the eye. if you have eye shadow only on the very tip of this brush, then apply it to the crease with an open eye, you should be fine. that's what the brush is designed for. you see how the tip is tapered and kind of rounded? it's so when you put shadow in the crease, it doesn't come on as a harsh line, but a blended one. of course, asking a sales person for help while you're in sephora never hurts, too.
It's just a case of practice, i was a late learner too. Just experiment when you've got a free evening (take photos to compare results if that helps) to find out what works for you.

If you've got a MAC or other make-up shop (or concession in a department store) go down there and book an appointment; the makeup artists are really friendly and will show you how to use the brushes and apply the products.

Just have fun and don't be afraid of making mistakes - you can always take it off and start again.
