I am 11 years old, and blonde with green eyes, I am trying makeup for the first time for a change. I was wondering what color shadow, and most of all, how do you apply it on your eyelids right? Oooh, and what kind of mascara? I thought blondes were supposed to wear like a brown kind.....and one mre thing, what do you do when applying mascara? Sorry for all those questions! LOL I will be thankful for helpful tips, pictures, videos, etc.!How do you apply eyeshadow?
Sweep a touch of shadow over your lids to accent eyes. You can define them, add drama, and make them stand out in a few quick steps.
Application on Entire Lid
Steps:
1. Prime the eyelids by dusting them with a small amount of loose powder.
2. Select a light base shadow. Using a shadow brush, sweep it across your entire lid, from brow to lash line.
3. Use a medium-toned shade to cover your lower lids.
4. Contour the crease of your eyelid with a dark shade, using a smaller eye shadow brush. This color can also work as an eyeliner (see the next section for instructions).
5. Blend shadow by stroking the lid gently with an eye shadow brush. Don't use your finger'you could wipe off the shadow entirely.
6. Use a cosmetic puff and a little pressed powder to tone down heavy shadow. Shake any excess powder off the puff, then press it gently on your lid.
Eye Shadow to Line the Eyes
Steps:
1. Choose a medium or dark shadow color to line your eyes.
2. Use a small, flat, angled brush for the application.
3. Stroke the brush over the eye shadow.
4. Start at the inside edge of your upper lid. Angle the brush so that the longest tip follows the shorter end as the brush moves across your lash line. Bring the brush to the outer corner of the eye.
5. Create a more dramatic line by wetting the brush before stroking it through the shadow. Mist a small amount of water onto the brush, or dab it into a few drops of water and proceed with the line. The shadow may feel wet as you draw your line, but it will dry quickly.
Overall Warnings:
Don't share eye makeup or tools'you can unknowingly transfer eye infections such as pinkeye (conjunctivitis).
If you get shadow in your eyes, flush them gently with tepid water.
Tips:
Apply a moisturizer on your eyelids first. It will make the eye shadow easier to absorb, making the color more visible!!How do you apply eyeshadow?

umm..ok, well for eyeshadow I would go for a brownish/tan or a lime green, it will bring out the color in ur eyes. To apply it, start w/ ur base color over the whole eye and most important, get a darker color in the crease, and then right below ur eyebrow put a lighter color, like a lighter tan or a white, maybe you can even get away w/ a light blue. umm..for mascara I would go for a black/brown cuz I'm blonde too and that's what I use. When I apply mascara I keep my eye open but since ur just starting I would close my eye a little and just keep it open a crack, and then apply directly to ur lashes! k, well good luck and I hope all of my tips will help u!

Hi! My older sister told me that blondes should wear brownish-blackish mascara. She gave me her Clinique stuff and its really nice. don't use too much because it looks scary : ) and take the brushy part and kind of ';pet'; your eye lashes with it. Good luck!

First of all, do not use the applicators that come with the eyeshadows. Buy an eyeshadow brush. Maybelline makes eyeshadow quads that have a lid color (apply all over lid), a brow bone highlighter which, you guessed it, you blend onto your brow bone, a contour shade which you blend into your crease, and a darker shade you can use as a powder liner if you want. Smear a small amount of vaseline or eyeshadow primer over your lid. Rub your sponge into the eyeshadow you want (purple is nice for hazel eyes) and gently dab it on, so it sticks to the vaseline/whatever

You should go to Walmart and get one of the shadow combos that tells you which colors to apply where. Almay has one especially for hazel eyes. It's three different shades of grey - I love it (I'm hazel too)! Apply the lightest color all the way from your lid to your brow (a color that just about blends with your skin tone), the next darkest to your lid, the next darkest to your crease. I like to add a touch of the lightest color the the inner corner of my eyes. If the inner part of your lid is a little lighter than the rest of the lid it makes your eyes look bigger and set farther apart. But the key is blending.
oh cool, you should use a q-tip. use one side of it, damp with water and apply. then the other side should stay dry and you can put on a second coat with that side. it will make the color stick and look more dramatic, like how the color appears in the case. you can use it around your eyes with precision. also, to make ';smokey'; eyes you can use an angled brush or those covergirl perfectblend eye liner pencils. the consistency of the pencil is rich and the spongey tip on the other end is the most perfect tool for blending. have fun! :)

hi everyone always admires the way i put my eyeshadow on and i also have hazel eyes. i think a dark greeny colours looks good. first put a creamy colour on your eye lids and then in the outer corners the colour you want and blend the cream into the green. hope i helped =D GOOD LUCK

The way I do it is cuz my lids tend to get oily sometimes..so I put some loose powder on them and then put on the colour a bit, and then on top of that put on a little bit more powder so it stays on..never liquid eye shadow either obviously, cuz it smudges right off.

get a good quality fine brush and you will be able to control it.
Use 3 colors of eye shadow. You can use more but it is not going to make any big improvement.
Dark: This is applied only to the eyelids from the lash line to the crease in the eyelid.
Medium: This is applied from just below the eyelid crease to the brow bone. You can, and some techniques do, shade the entire lid with this medium shade first.
Highlight: This is the lightest of the three and is applied to the brow bone and extends a little past the outer end of the eyebrow. This usually gives a pearly finish.

I had the same problem, and I solved it by using a very fine (thin) applicator brush. I went to sallys beuty store, and for about $6 i bought a package that had all types! They realy make it go on easier!

I find it best if I wet the end of a cotton bud (not so that it's dripping with water) and use that to apply the eyeshaddow. I also use eyeliner pencils in sparkly colours Sephora and Barry M have some good colours.

Wearing eyeshadow underneath your eyes is one of those things that looks far better in magazines than in real life since it tends to flake and smear and look messy. I would suggest a gel or cream eyeliner, MAC and Clinique make great ones and they're actually very easy to apply.
you will have to find a very thin eyeshadow brush and apply in very slowly and carefully like eyeliner and then smudge it a little ,pull the skin taut while applying .good luck

Wearing eyeshadow underneath your eyes is one of those things that looks far better in magazines than in real life since it tends to flake and smear and look messy. I would suggest a gel or cream eyeliner, MAC and Clinique make great ones and they're actually very easy to apply.
you will have to find a very thin eyeshadow brush and apply in very slowly and carefully like eyeliner and then smudge it a little ,pull the skin taut while applying .good luck
Lancome do a really good brush that is slightly angled so it is really good for getting a fine eyeshadow line under your bottom lashes - plus it is really good for working eyeshadow into your eyelid crease.

I'm pretty good at applying my makeup but one thing i've always been stuck on in applying eyeshadows. Does anyone know how to apply them and what type brushes to use for eyeshadow because i'm going to buy some brushes tommorrow from the body shop or something like that? ok, first what color of skin are you? Are you looking for a natural look or a ';going out / party'; look? well you pick out...i'll say 3 colors, one really light then a medium to the first color and a dark color.
1st* LIGHT COLOR
2nd* DARK COLOR

Then close your eye and apply the 1st color on to your entire eye lid (even under your eyebrow).
After that youll put your 2nd color on your eyelid but only where it creases!

there are many ways depending on what effect your looking for. you can go simple and just put on the colour you want on your lower lid and your done. or you can be more creative and use 3 to four different colours positioned in different spots of the eye. and blend of course. its hard to explain without an eye graph for me to show you. but i will try. so your lower lid you have to ends and a center with me so far. so take one colour you like lets say a darker colour for starters you can put that on the edge of the eye i mean towards the end of the eye and then in the pupil area where your eye would be if its open you add another colour something lighter perhaps.. and in the corners of the eyelid you add what ever colour you want something sheer is always nice. in the middle of the eye now you add another colour and you can sweep this up and away or keep it within the area itself. the top is done in another colour and you can do the inner top one colour and use another colour for the outter perimiter.

Blending is everything. When you first dip your brush into the e/s, you should have no more than a layer or two of e/s compacted on it. Remember - a little goes a long way! Apply the e/s to the center of your lid up to your crease using a patting motion; if you sweep it on too quickly, some of the powder might fall off the brush and onto your cheek, and maybe even in your eye [ouch!]. Once you've got as much as you need on your lid using that technique, sweep the eyeshadow outward using a circular motion. Apply more e/s to your brush if needed. For the inner corner, this is the place where you want your eye to brighten up. Applying a highlight, using the patting technique, to your inner corner will brighten up your whole eye. Use that same color to blend the eyeshadow above your crease so it fades out nicely.
If you want to go a bit more dramatic, get an e/s that goes with both the shadow you have previously applied and your eye color, and that is darker. Saying you used brown as your main eyeshadow, I'd suggest dark brown for the dark color. Get a flat brush and apply e/s to outer third of eye, concentrating on the crease. Once there's no more on your brush, sweep the dark brown from outer crease to about 1/2 way - 2/3 in your crease. Blend out any harsh lines.
To finish off the look, apply mascara to top and bottom lashes [bottom is optional]. You will look stunning!

Blending is everything. When you first dip your brush into the e/s, you should have no more than a layer or two of e/s compacted on it. Remember - a little goes a long way! Apply the e/s to the center of your lid up to your crease using a patting motion; if you sweep it on too quickly, some of the powder might fall off the brush and onto your cheek, and maybe even in your eye [ouch!]. Once you've got as much as you need on your lid using that technique, sweep the eyeshadow outward using a circular motion. Apply more e/s to your brush if needed. For the inner corner, this is the place where you want your eye to brighten up. Applying a highlight, using the patting technique, to your inner corner will brighten up your whole eye. Use that same color to blend the eyeshadow above your crease so it fades out nicely.
If you want to go a bit more dramatic, get an e/s that goes with both the shadow you have previously applied and your eye color, and that is darker. Saying you used brown as your main eyeshadow, I'd suggest dark brown for the dark color. Get a flat brush and apply e/s to outer third of eye, concentrating on the crease. Once there's no more on your brush, sweep the dark brown from outer crease to about 1/2 way - 2/3 in your crease. Blend out any harsh lines.
To finish off the look, apply mascara to top and bottom lashes [bottom is optional]. You will look stunning!

Cream-to-powder eye shadows are easy to apply, as they can be literally swept over the eyelid in one stroke, but they have the disadvantage of gliding off again within hours of application or of creasing in the eyelid. To improve the staying power of cream eye shadow, try setting It with a light dusting of translucent powder While powder eye shadows do tend to stay put, they require greater precision in application. It depends on the kind of look you want. You'll need a good brush, but also pick complementing color eyeshadows as they'll blend easily into each other. Most cosmetic brands do blending brushes, so you could get anything from a dept store version, right up to MAC's 217, whatever suits you.

Get the placement of the colors where you want them (typically, darker in the crease, but I'll talk about this later). Then, go back over your darker shadow with your lighter ones. So, light to dark and then back up to light, covering your whole lid with the lightest shadow. This will get rid of any harsh lines and also make sure your shadow isn't too dark. It's a great intensity controller.
As far as placement of shadows, you want to look at your eye shape. The ideal shape (or so they say) is almond. If you have that, you can do quite a few options - darker in the crease, darker on the outer corners, a light wash all over - almost anything goes for that eye shape. For other eye shapes, you're trying to manipulate the shadow to make your eyes more almond-shaped. Here are some examples (though by no means an exhaustive list):

Dont use eyeliner, it'll only make your eyes smaller. Apply your eyeshadow like eyeliner, as close to the lashline as possible, make a thin layer so it wont make your eyes smaller. Also, its a good idea to curl your lashes to make your eyes seem larger. Hope this helps!

Like when she said double eyelid, you thought there wasn't such a thing as that, if you were talking to an Asian, and said crease, they would probably give you a blur look.
Anyway, I'm Asian, and like you, I have single eyelid, you can try to create the effect of a double eyelid by using 3 colors from the same family, fill your whole eyelid with the middle shade, make a crease with the darkest shade, and highlight your brow bone with the lightest shade. Add a thin line of eyeliner from the middle of your lash line to the end, mascara and you're done.
Another way would be, taking you're Asian probably, use colors like, purple, pinks, golds and browns. They blend into your skin tone well. And just fill the 1/3 of your eyelid closest to your lash line with the color. Blend well.

ok, well start with a darker color, like a blakc or dark brown and apply it to the outer corners of your eyes, smudge it a bit so it blends outwards. then, using a slightly lighter color, go across most of your lids, then do the inner corners of your eyes with a white/cream color. line your bottom lids and waterlines with a dark liner, adn smudge and blend that too. make the line closest to your outer corners a bit thicker, it adds to the smoeky look. mascara is your choice for this look, i suggest a volumizing one.
ps- try this video, but you dont have to use all teh proffessional equipemtn she does, just use what you have at home

well if you want a black smoeky eye look, then these are the colors youll need: black, gray, whitish gray
if you want a brown smokey eye look these are the colors youll need: dark brown, light brown, tan/brow

sounds like you are using too many colors, hence the blending all togethre. all you need is a dark color and a light one. Put the dark one (with your finger) on the crease or bone of your lid and the outside corner of your lid and then put the light one starting from the inner corner of your eye, along your whole lid, not going over the dark shade on your crease.Girllllsss! try putting on a bright color then a dark color. Try that? Also try watching some style shows like 10 years younger or What not to wear. That is what I watch.
Just use two colors, a bright and a dark. Use a white or skin color shadow as a base in your whole eye. Then use a cutip to apply a dark shadow in the middle of your eye. Use a good amount of mascara and you will look great!

The trick is to use a eyeshadow brush instead of the sponge applicator that come's with the eyeshadow , using a brush will make it softer and natural ... Start by applying a frosty white to the brow bone to the tear duct's ,that will accent your brow bone and brighten your eye's . Then apply the darkest shade directly one the eyelid , then apply the medium lightest shade just above that ,and finally apply your lightest shade just below your brow bone . It's a lot easier to apply with a bruh rather than the sponge applicator.
Just don't use so many colors. Two shades usually look just as appealing as 3 or 4. Neutrals like browns, tans, golds, are usually easy to blend. Try putting the darker color in the deepest crease of your eyelid (midway b/tween brow and top lashes) And use the light color on your eyelid and just under your brow. When you get it as dark as you want, just use a soft brush (like a blush brush) to brush off excess.

i have the same problem. my problem is that my eyelids are so small. i use one color on the lash line and crease and a lighter one on top and between the dark color on the lid (just a spot). blend. it looks best with contrasting colors like black and white or purple and green.
Go to www.marykay.com and there are application tips on there. you should find the one that is perfect for your eye shape.
use a light [pearl color] at the very top of the eye [brow line] then...a med brown from the lash line up to the lighter color above...making a nice shape. then whatever color shirt you are wearing...put from the lash line to the crease...that`s what i do. i know this wasn`t really an answer to your question..but it`s what i do...and it works. you also have to have a very steady hand....also remember...no 2 eyes are the same. so no matter what, of course the shape of the eyeshadow will not be the EXACT same. just take your time and be careful. and itshould look great.

i usually do like a smokey dark grey/ black on the inside corner closest to my nose, then i do a little swipe of silver over that and to the middle of my eye, minding that the black is only in the corner covering about 1/4 of the lid and the silver is about 1/2 because its over the silver and to the middle of the eye
then do a swipe of pink any dark or light i kinda go for a rosy pink-ish and just do that from the edge of the silver to the far side of my lid, dont make it look like theyre completely seperate and dont use the ugly spongey things they give you with teh make up buy some brushes, after you do the eyeshadow, take a small brush and just sweet a little over where the colors mix DONT MUSH EM TOGETHER just so it looks smooth dont make circles witht the brush just short small sweeps

sounds like you are using too many colors, hence the blending all togethre. all you need is a dark color and a light one. Put the dark one (with your finger) on the crease or bone of your lid and the outside corner of your lid and then put the light one starting from the inner corner of your eye, along your whole lid, not going over the dark shade on your crease.Girllllsss! try putting on a bright color then a dark color. Try that? Also try watching some style shows like 10 years younger or What not to wear. That is what I watch.
Just use two colors, a bright and a dark. Use a white or skin color shadow as a base in your whole eye. Then use a cutip to apply a dark shadow in the middle of your eye. Use a good amount of mascara and you will look great!
use a cue tip to apply it so it will look even cause it will be kinda smokey!
The trick is to use a eyeshadow brush instead of the sponge applicator that come's with the eyeshadow , using a brush will make it softer and natural ... Start by applying a frosty white to the brow bone to the tear duct's ,that will accent your brow bone and brighten your eye's . Then apply the darkest shade directly one the eyelid , then apply the medium lightest shade just above that ,and finally apply your lightest shade just below your brow bone . It's a lot easier to apply with a bruh rather than the sponge applicator.
Just don't use so many colors. Two shades usually look just as appealing as 3 or 4. Neutrals like browns, tans, golds, are usually easy to blend. Try putting the darker color in the deepest crease of your eyelid (midway b/tween brow and top lashes) And use the light color on your eyelid and just under your brow. When you get it as dark as you want, just use a soft brush (like a blush brush) to brush off excess.

eyeliner-on the top, start in the middel of your eye and draw a smoothe line close to ur eyelashes to the crease of the outside of your eye. no matter what anyone says, dont put eyeliner on the inside of your eye on the bottom, your eye could get infected!!! also start in the middle on the bottom and draw to the outside of your eye as close as you can to the eyelashes with out touching the wet part.
mascara-dont glob on the mascara, just place the brush close to your eye and blink your eye on it.
eyeshadow-what ever color(s) you do start with darkest closest to your eye. then get lighter as you go up. eyeshadow is pretty easy to put on just dont do to much. you can always add more.
foundation-if your using a powder(which i suggest for first time users) us a large full brush. put it in the jar of powder, then tap it on the lid and swish it around in the lid and blend it all over your face. make sure its even too!!
blush-apply to the apples of your cheeks. smile in the mirror and the part that puffs up is where you should put it.
OTHER
if you have unruly eyebrows, get a clear mascara and it works like eyebrow gel.
liquid eyeliner looks good with a small line on the corner of your eye to make you look dramatic.
dont always go for crazy colors. but sometimes its ok to be spontanious :)

The way I do it is cuz my lids tend to get oily sometimes..so I put some loose powder on them and then put on the colour a bit, and then on top of that put on a little bit more powder so it stays on..never liquid eye shadow either obviously, cuz it smudges right off.
There's a cool site that let's you try on different colors and styles of makeup on your own photo. It's taaz.com. You can also try on different hairstyles and colors. Good luck!
i put concealer first.. to hold the shadow.... then i put the lightest color first.... at the crease do a line w/ the darker shade.. and then blend it with the medium shade... gosh did that make any sense? LOL...

The way I do it is cuz my lids tend to get oily sometimes..so I put some loose powder on them and then put on the colour a bit, and then on top of that put on a little bit more powder so it stays on..never liquid eye shadow either obviously, cuz it smudges right off.

i put concealer first.. to hold the shadow.... then i put the lightest color first.... at the crease do a line w/ the darker shade.. and then blend it with the medium shade... gosh did that make any sense? LOL...
Smokey eyes always works..%26amp; it doesn't have to be black! You can do it with the variety of colors that go with whatever you wear! =]

ok, well start with a darker color, like a blakc or dark brown and apply it to the outer corners of your eyes, smudge it a bit so it blends outwards. then, using a slightly lighter color, go across most of your lids, then do the inner corners of your eyes with a white/cream color. line your bottom lids and waterlines with a dark liner, adn smudge and blend that too. make the line closest to your outer corners a bit thicker, it adds to the smoeky look. mascara is your choice for this look, i suggest a volumizing one.
ps- try this video, but you dont have to use all teh proffessional equipemtn she does, just use what you have at home

well if you want a black smoeky eye look, then these are the colors youll need: black, gray, whitish gray
if you want a brown smokey eye look these are the colors youll need: dark brown, light brown, tan/brow
heres the routine for both black and brown.

Dont use eyeliner, it'll only make your eyes smaller. Apply your eyeshadow like eyeliner, as close to the lashline as possible, make a thin layer so it wont make your eyes smaller. Also, its a good idea to curl your lashes to make your eyes seem larger. Hope this helps!

Like when she said double eyelid, you thought there wasn't such a thing as that, if you were talking to an Asian, and said crease, they would probably give you a blur look.
Anyway, I'm Asian, and like you, I have single eyelid, you can try to create the effect of a double eyelid by using 3 colors from the same family, fill your whole eyelid with the middle shade, make a crease with the darkest shade, and highlight your brow bone with the lightest shade. Add a thin line of eyeliner from the middle of your lash line to the end, mascara and you're done.
Another way would be, taking you're Asian probably, use colors like, purple, pinks, golds and browns. They blend into your skin tone well. And just fill the 1/3 of your eyelid closest to your lash line with the color. Blend well.

I have trouble wearing eyeshadow,because I have too much skin on the upper part of my eyelid and it covers most of my lower lid. Very frustrating! I know all about cosmetic surgery,to fix this problem. I just can't afford that right now. I use Mary Kay concealer every single time I put on eye makeup (a super-thin veil is enough). I do concealer first, then apply my foundation (not on my eyelids, though) so the concealer has a chance to dry. The concealer is waterproof too, and I've never had it come off or smear when I apply eye makeup. Hope this helps!
Do you use base? If so put the concealer on after you apply your base. If the purple blue still shows through, try adding a yellow eyeshadow on top of the concealer and then your eye shadow you are wearing and see if that works.
